2008 Learning from the Legends Free Basketball Camp
The sixth annual free basketball clinic -- "Learning
From The Legends" -- for boys and girls in grades 4th
through 6th will be held Saturday, March 15 in conjunction
with the March Madness Experience in the Exhibit Hall of the
Peoria Civic Center.
Current and legendary members of the Illinois Basketball
Coaches Association (IBCA) will be the clinicians. There will
be approximately 40 clinicians on site to teach all facets of
basketball offensive and defensive skills.
Participation in Learning From The Legends will be limited
to the first 200 to enroll.
The clinic will be conducted in one session from 9:00
a.m.-10:30 a.m. Room 134 of the Peoria Civic Center will be
used for participant check-in. Participant check-in will be
from 8:15-8:45 a.m. The clinic will be conducted on the three
center courts in the March Madness Experience, and other
venues in the Exhibit Hall as necessary. Venues used in the
Learning From The Legends clinic will be off limits to the
general public until the clinic concludes.
Teachers and parents are advised to advance enroll their
participants in the clinic by using the registration form. (Registration form will be available beginning Feb. 1) Click on the March Madness Experience
icon and go to the Learning From The Legends page.
Participants should come to the March Madness Experience
with their own basketball shoes. They should not bring their
own basketball. Equipment to be used in the clinic will be
provided. The equipment is to remain on the center courts when
each session concludes. Dressing rooms and showers will not be
available.
Fees -- All Participants will be admitted to the Exhibit
Hall without charge. Persons accompanying the Participants
will gain access to the Exhibit Hall either with their ticket
to the tournament or a paid ticket to the March Madness
Experience. Price of tickets to the March Madness Experience
is $2.00. They may be purchased at the Ticket Booth in the
triangle outside the main entrance to the March Madness
Experience.
Each station will last 9 (approx.) minutes and there will
be a one-minute break between stations. The legendary coaches
will explain the activity to the Participants. There will be
an average of three other IBCA coaches with the legends at the
respective stations.
